Welcome to the Bitcoin Product Community! We drive high-impact free and open source software (FOSS) and commercial projects within the bitcoin ecosystem.

How it Started 

Last June, a small group of product-oriented bitcoiners came together to create a space where contributors could share ideas, develop skills, and coordinate resources for bitcoin projects. While we intended to attract existing and aspiring product managers, the Discord server quickly filled with people whose titles, talents, and interests varied wildly. 

When we kicked off biweekly meetings at the start of 2023, we quickly realized that “product manager” was no longer the best term to describe group members. 

Introducing Bitcoin Product Contributors

To better reflect the diverse background of our community and bitcoin’s intrinsic FOSS nature, we adopted the label: bitcoin product contributors.

A bitcoin product contributor empowers others to do what they do best. Their exact role depends on the needs of the project. At a high level, a bitcoin product contributor builds support networks, organizes tasks, coordinates resources, and thinks strategically. They strive to embody bitcoin’s decentralization ethos and most importantly are willing to do the work needed to push the project across the finish line. Community members often refer to themselves as janitors, a term of endearment that captures the kind of work involved in this role.

A Call to All

As bitcoin product contributors (or janitors, take your pick), our vision is to create a space for product-oriented bitcoiners to collaborate and positively impact the bitcoin ecosystem. 

The mission of our community is to:

• Network, share ideas, and develop skills with one another

• Connect bitcoin projects with contributors

• Identify and fill strategic gaps within the bitcoin ecosystem

• Foster collaboration FOSS and commercial bitcoin projects 

But in order to get there, we need you. This is an open call for bitcoin product contributors, regardless of your background:

The bitcoiner who works full-time as a product or project manager. The bitcoiner who has a marketing background. The non-technical bitcoiner who is eager to contribute and hungry to learn.

We need everyone. The only requirement is to come with humility and to commit to a minimum of a couple of hours a week once you find a project you love.
